I want to minimise everything and show the desktop (like "Show Desktop" on windows), is there anything that does that on Redhat Linux 8.0?...

I don't know what WM you're using, but in sawfish you can configure a keybinding to "iconify workspace windows". That's what you want.

in GNOME 2.3.x they have a "show desktop button" that you can add to the panel. I don't think that is in RedHat 8, or probably not even in RedHat 9.
I respectfully decline the invitation to join your delusion.

On KDE 3.1 you can add it by right clicking the panel and then
Panel Menu --> Add --> Special Button --> Desktop Access.
