Weird booting issues with Linux DVDs/CDs

I just picked up a computer from a friend 2GB RAM 70 GM HD... and an ATI Video card...

The only distro I can get to boot from DVD/CD is Puppy. And I've tried over 50 different ones. Any thoughts?

Joli will get to the boot menu and an old strange one, Igelle, almost boots completely but stalls during splash screen.

    So odd.

    Hello and Welcome!

It would help us if you could provide some more information.
In Puppy, open a terminal and execute the following command:
    Code:
    lspci -vnn
Just paste the output back here.
Use [code] tags if you don't mind... makes for easier reading!

    Here is your graphics card:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RC410 [Radeon Xpress 200] [1002:5a61]
I might be wrong here, but I believe ATI dropped support for this chipset sometime ago. And most installers need graphics to work to get you through installing.
Have you tried the Ubuntu Alternate install? A text based installer, that might let you get to a usable desktop in order to download the open source drivers.

Keep trying different distro's, particularly those distrowatch.com recommends for older computers. Legacy, AntiX, and ImagineOS have worked for me on older troublesome computers.
