Questions about manpages

This may seem like a daft question (in which case, I apologise) but are manpages always stored in either gz or bz2 format, depending on the distro? Or are other formats used? Do distros ever mix formats, storing some manpages in gz and others in bz2?

I didnt pay attention, which distribution did you encounter, that uses bzip2?

But in any case, I would assume and expect that one distribution would use one compression method consistently.

Well, that's kind of why I asked, because it was a bit of a shock to me, while playing around with Sabayon, to find that it uses bz2.
