Re installing VirtualBox and migrating VMs
Hi all,
Host - Ubuntu 12.04 desktop 64bit
Virtualizer - Oracle VirtualBox
AMD 8-core
Please advise where can I find howto/instruction re installing VirtualBox from the package download on;
Download VirtualBox for Linux Hosts
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
NOT installed from the package, oracle_vbox.asc.
Most of the threads found with googling are installing on oracle_vbox.asc.
I have a box here running for several years and been upgraded many times;
Host - Ubuntu 12.04 desktop 64bit
Virtualizer - Oracle VirtualBox
AMD 4-core
I already forgot how to install VirtualBox. The Original host was Ubuntu 7.0/8.0
Besides where can I find instruction migrating the VMs from the old host to new host (on another PC)
TIA
B.R.

Go to the virtualbox web site and find the downloads there. As for migrating your VMs, you should not need to do anything but copy over the old files. I've done this a number of times without problems. Here is the vbox download link: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
and here is a link for the Ubuntu 64-bit 12.04 deb file: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...cise_amd64.deb
and here is a link for the md5sums file to verify that you get the package successfully: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.2.4/MD5SUMS
and finally, here is a like for the add-ons so you can have usb-passthru, etc: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...4.vbox-extpackSometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
