    Which is the most stable Linux for a Compaq Proliant 1600? It is discontinued server. It will be used for mail relay and proxy server.

    I think Redhat could be nice to yr machine, as much as I know, many personal webservers in the globe use Redhat 7.3, I think it is because it is stable and security hassle free.

    We are using Compag proliant DL380,580, and 2types of blades... and we are usign Redhat 7.3 on all of them. And it workes OK...7.3 is the only Redhat dist i should use on a server. Maybe 9 to but i havent realy looked at it yet.

    REDHAT defenitley

    We have @ our prestigious "global conglomerate" a compaq 1600 or 2500 running redhat 7.0 and it runs just fine. Go with the RH.
