This is a great book on Unix and Linux if you want to develop you skills.
UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook (4th Edition): Evi Nemeth, Garth Snyder, Trent R. Hein, Ben Whaley: 9780131480056: Amazon.com: Books
I got my first copy back about 1986 when the first edition came out and have had every edition since. A great way to develop yoru skills is think of a project and start working on it, then when stuck do the research and work thru the issues.
