BitTorrent
Hi,
I'm on a 56K connection so whenever I try downloading a large file, this is what happens.
Lets say I downloaded 5MB in 45mins, then I paused cause of some reason, when I click resume again, it does the hashing (whats this) and then the file size which is displayed is either less than 5MB or more than 5 MB. What's this?? will this result in corrupt files, I don't want to download a huge file in a month and then find out that it's corrupt. GRR
thanks.

The hashing is to check the integrety of the parts you already downloaded. If the checksum doesn't match the original, it will redownload that specific part.
This mechanism is to ensure your download will be valid at the end.I\'m so tired .....

Thanks. What do you say about the size changes as I asked above?

I think this is a result of rechecking the data downloaded. I never did see something like this happening, but I am not on dailup. I guess dailup is sensitive for errors. But I shouldn't worry too much, which client are you using ?

Azureus if you have plenty of recourses, bitTornado is one like BitTorrent's reference client. You could use a webinterface for one of these as well, that one is called TorrentFlux and works very well, it could be installed on a server as well. It needs a webserver running supporting php and mysql.

Azureus is the most complete client but as stated before, it is a resource hog.I\'m so tired .....
