i have a question about the irc channel how do you use it, is there guidlines, and is there anything special i need to do i.e. register. Thanks!

Try this link http://www.linuxforums.org/irc.php, you will need a good IRC client, try xchat, it probably comes with your distro. Once in the channel use !rules (I think that's right) to read the channel rules
