    dear experts

is a nexus 5 an option - if we compare it with google pixel

in other words: the pixel phone is pretty expensive.

is it a good recomendation to take a Nexus 5 instead of a google pixel?

    nexus 5 is surely cheaper

and i know for a fact that it runs android 6.0 without a hitch.

but considering the quality of the hardware, i don't recommend it. it's been 3 years... too old for a smartphone, the ultimate disposable product.

Do not confuse the Nexus 5 with the Nexus 5x. The Nexus 5 has pretty much reached end of life, and won't get Android 7.. Mine still works, but it's getting slower, and the battery is degrading. The Nexus 5x, OTOH, is still a recent device, and still supported by Google, and gets Android 7. If you don't have to have the latest and greatest, and can consider buying a model behind the cutting edge, the Nexus 5X, or the Nexus 6P, would be an excellent choice. Both are being sold at firesale prices now, since the Pixel phone is being released.
