    Backup problem

Here's the error I receive when running a backup.

    Performing backup of /home to /dev/nst0 ..

DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Jun 25 13:42:04 2003
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
    DUMP: Dumping /dev/ida/c0d0p5 (/home) to /dev/nst0
    DUMP: Label: none
DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
    DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
DUMP: estimated 198281 tape blocks on 5.07 tape(s).
DUMP: Volume 1 started at: Wed Jun 25 13:42:21 2003
    DUMP: dumping (Pass III) [directories]
DUMP: dumping (Pass IV) [regular files]
    DUMP: Closing /dev/nst0
DUMP: Volume 1 completed at: Wed Jun 25 13:42:49 2003
    DUMP: Volume 1 took 0:00:28
    DUMP: Volume 1 transfer rate: 1369 KB/s
DUMP: Change Volumes: Mount volume #2
DUMP: fopen on /dev/tty fails: Device not configured
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.

    I'm using Redhat 6.2. I'm backing up a 30Gb server with a 40Gb SCSI tape.

Any idea what the problem might be?

After DUMP aborted do you get any specific errors on the screen ?

Check dmesg output and see if you find any errors ...
