    compiler binary

    I am running linux SUSE 9.1 and have just downloaded the binary of gcc. I installed the rpm with no problems but when I try to configure what I needed it for (in this case kopete) I get this error
    Code:
    checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
    What would I do to fix this?

    Can you please change into the source directory and cat config.log and post the output.
