    hi,

    Which application(like-Apache server, vsftpd,Samba etc) on linux are under
    GPL? can we modify their source code....and attach them in new disro?

    Apache is not under the GPL, it is released under the Apache License, found here. It's up to you to figure out if what you're doing follows it.

    As for other programs, without a specific list it's impossible for us to tell you which programs are GPL and which are not. *Most* programs for Linux are under the GPL, but certain ones (Apache, Mozilla) are not.
