the "dir" command doesnt work when "su"

i take it you're using the bash shell? the more official file list command would be "ls" which in most cases far more informative and shorter to type. for many of us who are to any degree linux enthusiasts can find ourselves accidentally typing "ls" at the windows command line (those of us occaisionally forced to use it)
