mp3s in linux
what you have to do is go the xmms website and download the module that allows you to play mp3s in redhat 9
i guess redhat is afraid to get sued by anyone so they left that out. i think the website is XMulitimedia something, but you can do a search for xmms download
i did the other day, download the proper rmp, works fine.
now i only wish that we could get shoutcast internet radio support for xmms, that would be "GRREEAAAT"(OFFICE SPACE)

yea i had the same problem when i first installed RH8. but i guess redhat was just being smart and covering their @$$ just in case all this mp3 stuff went to crap with the law and everything. all you have to do is download the rpm from www.xmms.org , then do a real quick rpm -Uvh <rpm file> and bwamo, you are good to go with your muzak. Cheers.
