    Sorry if I'm being blind, but that is about all I can find: "A way of streaming music". What differs it from just sending an MP3 stream straight over a TCP connection?

    That is basicly how shoutcast works. You have a server which a dj and clients can connect to. The dj plays music to the server which in returns broadcasts it out using udp to the connected clients. It also allows http access.

    Some questions, though, if you would happen to know. Does it reencode the incoming music so that it can support adaptable bitrates and so?

    Yes it can do that. You specify the bitrate in the config files for the server.

    Can it reencode individual streams to give lower bitrates for clients with less bandwidth?

    No, what ever you set it to effects all clients.

    SHOUTCAST

    XMMS SUPPORT FOR SHOUTCAST? i WILL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT. hOPEFULLY ITS JUST AND RPM THAT I CAN ADD TO XMMS. THANKS MY FRIENDS.
