I am running a dual xeon with 2 80GB IDE harddrives. I run a small webhost and some game servers, and teamspeak on this box. I currently have everything on the first (hda) harddrive, but someone mentioned that i should split the stuff up to improve performance of the box. I run Plesk with Apache2, in /home/httpd with all clients in /home/httpd/vhosts. The game servers run in /home/admin. What I am asking is what is the best way to mount the secon drive (hdb) to keep the system at ease (if it really does improve performance at all)?
I partitioned and formatted /dev/hdb1 with the full 80GB of space as hdb1. Would it be better to mount it as:
- /home (game servers/httpd/client webspace)
/home/admin (game servers)
/home/httpd (httpd/client webspace)
/home/httpd/vhosts (client webspace)
Thanks for your input.
AFAIK the only benefit would be to have the swap space on another drive.
