i have just installed linux mandrake. but i cannot connect to the net using it.. im using windows xp just now incase ur wondering ...

New user to linux plz help
hello all
i have a problem.

anyway here is the message i get when i try and connect
ERROR KPPP
CAN NOT LOAD THE ACCOUNTING RULESET "/ENGLISH/BRITISHTELECOM_LOCAL.RST"!

Can you connect any other computers on your LAN (if you have any??) Can you paste in the output from these commands..as the root user
Code:ifconfig cat /etc/sysconfig/network cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*

What kind of connection is it? Modem or PPPoE xDSL (or other)? And even more importantly, what distro are you using?

im using a modem to connect
and i can connect using windows xp i have xp and mandrake on my pc multiboot option,
as for the other replys im sorry but i have not go a clue how to work linux

I've never heard of any accounting rulesets at all. When in the dialing process does this happen, exactly?

hi
i have put in my username etc. when i click on connect i get the dial tone then after a few mins i get that message

I don't use either KDE or PPP, so I can't check this myself, but if you look around in the program and all its settings and stuff, can you find anything related to accounting?
