you guys ever had a file w/c you can't totally access at all even as root? it "denies" you of everything from doing stat, ls, rm,cp, mv, everything.. .to it. how could such file come to be?

everything got so messed up. a number of apps/modules can't do anything. it just sits there. you could see it as a running process. and you can't even kill it.

What is the name of the fle?
Is it a system file, or something you downloaded?

If somebody who was using Windows told me that, I would suspect a virus.

must be a virus. try booting into another distro or maybe a livecd then mount the drive and delete it from there.

Don't delete the file yet. What is the file? If it is a system file, deleting it could cause serious problems.

Windows example. On my system I had a service called csrss running that was causing problems. I was told by some very knowledgeable people to delete the service. So I did.
After that I had to reinstall Windows, cause my system was borked.

The file/service might not be the problem, just a symptom.
