Could it be a case of short options vs long ones (i.e. -h vs --help)?
Either way, I guess I'll just use one for now on. Just doubled my efficiency!!...

I have also not seen the double -- used in a switch for su other than help. Even in my RH 9 "Bible" it doesn't mention anything on "su --" . So maybe only Linus knows

when i su to root i just type su. If you use a - you pick up the users enviroment variables.
