I somewhat understand your frustration. Locking your previous thread was a little premature and heavy handed.
However, you did start out with a very sarcastic and negative attitude.
You will generally find this is a very good forum with very good answers. As with all forum, you should hang around and listen (read) rather than jumping right in. Many times a topic search will answer your question.
As you can tell, I'm relatively new to this forum as well. I have been around computing including Linux for many years. I have had a number of questions answered here, many more than I have answered.
It sure beats the support you get from WinX. You call them on the phone, usually fee based, and get some kid answering questions from a knowledge database.
Try giving Linuxforums a try.

If you stick around tis forum you will see that it is one of the most helpful linux forums on the net.
By the way there is a BSD section on this forum as well if you decide to go with BSD.How to know if you are a geek.
