Alien
Since I'm on a debian system (knoppix HD install) i have to use alien to install any .rpm files.
It works just great accept for one thing. Is there any way of pointing to which directory that I want to install in? It seems to do it automatically. And in the --help menu, when I look at all the options, there is nothing there to do what I want.
The reason I ask is that I need to install my modem's software in a certain place, and I don't know how to do that.

I don't believe the option is there. RPMs are setup to install in a specific directory. I would just find the files, and move them to where you need them to be.
