Okay, I have a sound card that's unrecognized by Linux, I've found a driver for it but have no clue how to install it.

There should be a file called INSTALL or README or something like that should have come with the download or is available in the website where you downloaded the driver. That file will give you step by step instructions on what you need and how to go about installing the driver. Like I said before, most drivers will need a kernel source.
