Minicom and Cisco Routers

Hello gang! I got a question.

I tried to configure minicom to console into a Cisco router using com1. I believe i got all the paramaters okay such as

9600
8
N
1
and in the serial ports configuration i chose /dev/ttS0 for com1 (it had defautled to ttS1

the problem I see is that it wants to freakin initialize a modem that i dont have......

anyone know how to configure this app to not initialize a modem. I think if I can get it to do that I cant get it to connect to the router?? If anyone knows of instructions i can follow let me know. i have done this before but I dont remember it wanting to initialize a modem.

I have a cisco 678 DSL modem/router and here are my settings....


Comm Parameters:
Baud 38400
Parity None
Stop 1

Under COnfigure MiniCom
Hardware and software flow control are both NO

My serial port was on /dev/ttys0

I Beleive the "modem" that mincom is initializing is your serial port.

All, it was the freakin cable that I was using to console into the routers that was my problem. I used a rollover cable that I made and it all started working fine, minicom. Shane thanks and you were right the modem it was trying to initialize was the serial port.
