that depends on what you like... one of the most popular is XMMS and it comes with most modern distros.. it kinda resembles winamp in a lot of ways.. i personally don't know of many others.. i know that xine and mplayer will both play mp3s, though..
Their code will be beautiful, even if their desks are buried in 3 feet of crap. - esr

Definitely XMMS. It comes with most distros. If not, get it from http://xmms.org.

You also have gmerlin, Gtk Mediaplayer. Its good, but mplayer and xmms beats it

noatun and kaboodle are fine for kde since i dont use xmms because it never lets me play a directory. noatun has a playlist function that kaboodle lacks though
