    Starting Oracle Database on Linux


    Hi,

    I have a oracle 9i installed on linux.
    How do i start the database,
    i can login as root,

    i am a newbie to linux.

    Please advise.

    It depends on where you installed the oracle software.. Look under the oracle-software directory after a program called dbstart and dbshut to close the database. You also must have database entries in /etc/oratab to be able to start/stop.
