just these two
i reinstalled linux just there and i have no pretty picture when its loading up the kernel how do i get that going again? (its called the splash or something its straight after the selection with grub (it usually says suse 8.2 and gives you a progress bar it just tells you what its doing now)) how do i get that going again?
and how do i get the com to supermount?

Try the runlevel editor. You should be able to start it with the configuration program, that comes with your distro (e.g. for SuSE it is called YaST).
