I noticed that scrolling text in new linux versions (RH 8, slack 10,etc.) , such as scrolling down in Konsole and KWrite, is a little bit choppy! It is not that choppy in windows.
when I had linux redhat 7.0 it was very fast and didn't have choppy scroling!
Does any oone know why

Check the various control centers if there's an option called 'smooth scrolling'.

maybe
I didn't see "smooth scroling" in the control center of kde.
did you mean the control center of kde or gnome or what?
But now I switched to 800 x 600 and scrolling is a little bit faster.
Yes, it is someting that has to do with graphics preformence.
my graphincs card is crap (ati rage pro 4 mb Integrated ! )
it doesn't even have a 70 hz at 1024 mode but on windows xp it does because I have the driver.
