Compiling software to run on MIPS CPU
Hi.
I have a modem that runs linux. Some information is here:
http://www.beyondlogic.org/nb5/
The modem runs thttpd as the webserver. What I want to do is install a proxy server on the modem so if I am out somewhere I can go into Firefox and setup the proxy settings in there and start browsing from my own connection using my own IP address.
I run a Windows PC and I have no idea how to compile stuff. Would someone be able to compile a proxy server for me so it will run on the MIPS processor?
Thanks.

you'll need the gnu crosscompalation tools, how ever it probably would be easier setting an old system up, making ssh avilible on the net from thecomputer and using a ssh client at work such as putty on a windows machine to forward web ports via ssh to your server

Yes I need help setting up the cross compiler. Can I setup a cross compiler on windows or does it have to be done on linux?
No I cannot setup another computer. I would like to use the modem.

being that you dont have an idea on compalation, its definatly not recomended that you try the cross compilers, your best off with a normal pc with linux on it. plus a normal proxy does not allow you to get past proxies at work and such. And a open proxy is a bad idea

Please. I just need someone to compile it for me so I can use the binary.
Or someone to tell me how I can compile it myself.

I can also tell you that most proxy servers will not run...as they require alot of storage. As far as i know theres not a cut down web proxy software avilible

Ok. Well is there anyway I can run Perl (I can already use thttpd and setup it up on another port like 81) scripts. Then I can run nph-proxy.cgi.

as long as its not meory intensive you'll be fine. Although a old pc with ssh would be better
