Hi everybody,

I am trying to install oracle 8.1.6 enterprise edition on redhat 9.0.
I am getting the errors.

The details are :

The installation going smoothly and i see the prompt saying Installation Success. While The process relink the library and make file, i encounter these errors. I choose ignore when the first error comes up. Then the second and the third.
These errors are:

1. 'Error in invoking target relink of makefile
/opt/ora8/product/8.1.6/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk"

2. 'Error in invoking target relink of makefile
/opt/ora8/product/8.1.6/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk"

3. 'Error in invoking target relink of makefile
/opt/ora8/product/8.1.6/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk"

Like these so many errors are coming. i am simply ignoring.


At the end of the installation i am getting these errors:

unable to configure net 8 configuration assistant and oracle database configuration assistant.


THIS IS THE OUTPUT FROM MAKE.LOG FILE in /opt/ora8/product/8.1.6/install directory

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lclntsh

/usr/bin/make -f ins_precomp.mk relink ORACLE_HOME=/opt/ora8/product/8.1.6 EXENAME=ott
Linking ott
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lclntsh
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
/bin/chmod: failed to get attributes of `ott': No such file or directory
make: *** [ott] Error 1



After completing the installation with errors, while running the sqlplus command i am getting the error:

sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.8.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory


please tell me the solution as soon as possible.

this is very urgent for me.
