which linux distro should i get

i may be able to dig another one up, i need one that makes it very easy to install new hardware and software

The other ones I haven't tried, but of course I hear Mandrake and Fedora are awesome. Not sure about Xandros, and Knoppix I think is better as a livecd and not being installed. Your decision though of course.

Xandros is also good if you want a MS Windows-like environment. Neither Xandros nor Linspire are free (no cost) however. Xandros offers their OCE version (which is crippled) for free. The others you mentioned are freely downloadable. See the above link for more information on what distributions are out there.Registered Linux user #270181
