    Whats an alternative to Red Hat and Slackware that is a good distro with compilers in the install(not interested in gentoo).

    Debian, Suse, Mandrake

    Those are also very big distro's..

    You could look at distrowatch.com for others etc

    If you're looking for a source distro (i.e.: compile everything) then (excluding Gentoo) I think that you can do that using Slackware. Also the little known Source Mage.

    Slackware rocks (of course )SourceMage is great though really and u could use a less known distro like Nasgaia (www.nasgaia.org)
    for example.Me I'm using slackware
