I want to start giving bckt o the community so i decided i would start programming some apps for linux (mainly Fedora Core) but as i no only basic C/C++ it would need to be simply... oh and i can do a bit with RealBasic so i was wodering if anyone had any ideas as to what i could make... thx

The trick is to find something that you find subpar or lacking, and make it!

My one application was to write a configuration file generator for a project whose old one didn't work. It annoyed me, so I wrote one, sent it to the project's maintainer, and he added it in.

Are there any tasks that need a good application? Do you use any applications where the functionality is limited or not up to what you'd like? You can download their source and improve 'em, or take that idea and write your own implementation of it from scratch.

Just go out there and give it a go!
