Buying new Motherboard and CPU
Hi, i'm getting my new motherboard and CPU tomorrow for this old, out-dated box. Now I started to wonder, since my current cpu is a P3 and i run the I586 structure, and the new CPU is a Athalon XP, will everything still work or will I have to reinstall Linux with a different structure?
I have seen that some Distros have seperate releases for Athalon XP but I have not been able to find it for many distros.
I'm Currently running Mandrake 9.2 with the I586 structure.
So to sum it up, will the I586 structure work with a Athalon XP CPU,
and if not, what structure do I have to use?

The Athlon XP is backwards compatible with i586, so you don't need to worry about that. However, you might want to consider recompiling your kernel to get the advantage of XP-specific optimizations.
