Vaio desktop fan control

Has anyone managed to implment speed control of the cooling fans on a sony vaio?

Yes. You can use lm-sensors. It took me about 15 minutes to get it configured following this guide:

Then I had to setup "fancontrol" (part of lm-sensors). I still don't have a completely satisfactory /etc/fancontrol config but I think it is just a matter of time. Checkout the man pages.
