i have a cell phone and i want to connect it via usb and share files...
i would do that on ubuntu dapper.what do i need ?

Have you tried just plugging it in. Ubuntu has a lot of out the box support. If not, give us the last few lines of

dmesg

after you plug it in. To see what FS and which device it is.
