    Oh well.

    We will find out how much luck I have later. I am going to buy SuSE Linux 8.2 and do a clean install of that instead. THEN you can try to help me. I should hopefully have it bought and installed tonight

    I DID IT!

    I just read a little, adapted what I read in the fairly inacurate administration guide book, and used xconfig to make the needed adjustment. then did make bzImage. I then backed up my kernal and added a selection in the grub menu for booting the baked up kernal (just to be safe) then I just renamed the bzImage to my kernal name and replaced it. Rebooted and BINGO! Full dynamic NTFS support!
