Oh well.

I DID IT!
I just read a little, adapted what I read in the fairly inacurate administration guide book, and used xconfig to make the needed adjustment. then did make bzImage. I then backed up my kernal and added a selection in the grub menu for booting the baked up kernal (just to be safe) then I just renamed the bzImage to my kernal name and replaced it. Rebooted and BINGO! Full dynamic NTFS support!
