How To: Verify Checksums
Verifying your md5 or sha1 checksums is much easier than you might think. Some distributions have a tool built in to check your burned CD's for you. For those running windows, you will probably have to download a solo program to verify your downloads.
I found a GREAT and easy to use hash checker from here:
http://www.slavasoft.com/hashcalc/
It's super easy to use, and supports many formats. Simply unzip it, install it and run it.
click the "..." button at the top of the program window, select the .iso file you want to verify, then check the boxes below according to which hashes you want to see (md5 or sha1, etc.)
Click on the calculate button, wait a few seconds and voila! You have your checksums that you can compare to the website listing.
I hope this thread will help people complete this process with less searching.
