I am a complete newb to Linux. Now I am going to be running a dedicated game server using Linux. Bassicaly where do I begin with building it? I already have the system:
AMD Anthlon xp 1700 +
512 MB DDR
MSI Nforce 2 board
300 Watt PSU

A hd would be a good too. I don't know how computer literate you are so I suggest installing redhat or mandrake. If you are good with computers: slack, gentoo, or debian would be good to learn on. Many docs at http://www.linuxdocs.org and there are plenty of howto's for building gaming servers. Also http://www.google.com/linux is your friend.
