Repair Joliet Extensions.
I did something really stupid: I backed up my home folder before scraping my suse 10.2 install for the shiny new kubuntu 7.04. I burned all the files to a DVD, but when K3B asked if I wanted to shorten file names, I said "NO!"
Now all the files are messed up. Most of them appear as mpegs. My question is this: is there any nice way to get the Joliet file extensions back so linux knows what the content of the files are? If not, is there any non-nice way to do this, maybe on a file to file basis? While I'd love to be able to copy all my preferences for firefox, etc., what I really want to get at is some specific files that are harder to replace.
Is all hope lost?
