i hv a linux server in the lab and another one at my desk a few corridors away. is there a way in which i can get the console screen of the server in the lab on my linux desktop so that i dont hv to go to the lab everytime to see what the server is doing??
well if you have X running on the server, then you could VNC, but X is such a nono on servers i doubt it, with the exception of shh style tools and top/ps i cant think of anything.
Probably your best bet is like qub333 mentioned, try connecting via SSH. That's what we did at my college. Over a fast network connection you won't notice any difference in responsiveness than if you were actually sitting at the server.. Of course, that's provided your server ALLOWS ssh connections...
