Since I wasn't sure what this was, I went and searched:
Great - glad I asked... :?Quote:
`Hurd' stands for `Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons'. And, then, `Hird' stands for `Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth'. We have here, to my knowledge, the first software to be named by a pair of mutually recursive acronyms.
Hehe, you could call it a replacement of the Linux kernel. Its supposed to be extremely stable, and have a object-oriented design so you can eg. update some key components of the kernel without having to rewrite it.
Anyway, take a look at Http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd
I've always loved mutually recursive acronyms soooooooooo much. :D
Anyone running this have any feedback on it?
