Just wondering how many linux distros can be squeezed in a CD?
If I remember correctly, the kernel Linux was about 256kb in size on Toms Boot Disk.
80mins CD-Rs are about 700MB in size. The overhead for the boot selector that loads your "distro" of choice is negligible.
My estimation is therefore that you can distribute 3000 different Linuxes on such a CD.
A very useful CD would be: Puppy, DSL & Austrumi for old hardware + Paretd Magic Live, Clonezilla, SystemRescueCD, Trinity Rescue Kit for rescue broken system or backuping them. If someone knows of a CD with many specialist and lightweight distros, please post a link!!
