How to share bandwidth?
I have two computers at home which share internet access, one running Windows and the other running Slackware/WinXP. This is all done through a router.
Anyway, my brother uses Limewire a lot and this means terrible download speed, pings in CS and slow browsing for me. Also, he uses a web camera too which slows things down.
Is there anyway I can split the internet connection 50:50?
I've looked on the routers configuration page and have been unable to find anything.
Could you tell us what brand and model of router you are using?
If your router does not currently have QoS, then perhaps it has updated firmware with that feature.
you could set up an old box with packet shaping, which will split the bandwidth
M0n0wall is an easy to use freebsd based firewall that can be ran on a old pc.
As for QoS its great but not all programs support it
