im trying to install apache 2, is gcc installed

im trying to install apache 2 from source, i can use the ./configure command and have got passed that stage (i think) when it comes to 'make' it says 'bash: make: comand not found'.
is gcc installed? is configure a gcc comand or a normal lnux shell comand, does anyone have a suggestion?

gcc is installed, you need a sane "build toolchain" which includes Make, automake, autoconf, and I think that is about all. Get these from your local rpmfind.net or download them from ftp.gnu.org :)
