Which Linux tool shall I run to decompress/read .rar files

Hi folks,

I download following files;
John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eB ook-LiB.part1.rar
John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eB ook-LiB.part2.rar

on;
http://ebook.manboo.info/archives/li...ing-bible.html

I don't have "WinRAR archive manager" here. Which Linux tool can I run to decompress/read the files. TIA

Is there Open Source ebook/doc equivalent to "Red Hat Fedora and Enterprise Linux 4 Bible' by Christopher Negus". Tks

I do not know of may CentOS repositories (in other words, I don't know of many RHEL repos) so I can't help that way. Try google to see if you can come up with an rpm.

unrar is a proprietary format so it wouldn't likely be in any Redhat based distro's repositories. I came across this HOW-TO on a Google search.

satimis, you're right. those commands are a little redundant. Didn't look too closely at them the first time.

You should be able to find glibc in your package manager. That's a fairly common package. The other one I'm not too sure about. I queried my system a few times to try and find anything along the lines of rtld, gnu_hash or gnu-hash but couldn't find anything like that. The only thing that came close was gdbm but I doubt that's what's required here.

Did you try any of those commands on the link you posted? Maybe the RHEL 4 one would be compatible with your CentOS install. If not, you could always remove the repo.

I solved my problem as follows;

Download
unrar-3.7.4-1.lvn6.x86_64.rpm
on;
http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/x86_64...w/U.group.html

As root rpm installed it without complaint. Both qcomibook and unrar are running;

$ which unrar
/usr/bin/unrar

$ which qcomicbook
/usr/bin/qcomicbook


# yum install gnochm

$ unrar /path/to/
John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eB ook-LiB.part1.rar
John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eB ook-LiB.part2.rar
(both files must be present)

$ ls

Code:

---

...
John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eBook-LiB.chm
...

---

# gnochm John.Wiley.and.Sons.Linux.Troubleshooting.Bible.eB ook-LiB.chm

to read the file.


I'm still searching how to integrade unrar to qcomicbook.
