Has any folk tried Elivecd

Where Debian meets Enlightenment

Whether it is so powerful as described on their website? Can it replace GNOME/KDE desktop? Comment would be appreciated. TIA

All the power comes from normal open soruce Linux applications.
E17 developement is in problem, there is no stable release yet.

Compiling is the best way to install E17 due to many bugs. E17 is very beautiful than other desktop environments..because it consists of effects and animation without composite manager.
but you can't compare the Gnome and its awome implementations with E17 and its hardly 10 to 15 modules.

You can get and compile the E17 on any distro. there is no need to get elive.

Hehe, thats quite bit list of resources. :D

However worst thing is when you setup e17 from source, you need to compile each tiny mondule in a specific squence.
