Looking for small Linux Os bootup fast and support more modern hardware
hi all Linux expert,
i have a project making a hand-held machine, it's support more modern hardwares such as Firewire1394, eSata, SCSI, network, SaS (serial attach scsi) hard drive.
in the first time we build on the embedded system, base on arm9 platform but, it's not stable and very slow. Then we decide turning to using intel mini-itx motherboard: Intel D945GCLF mini-ITX, DDR2-512MB, CPU Intel Atom 230 @ 1x 1.60GHz
I'm newer linux, no more experience about linux OS. Searching on the forums, we met some os: ubuntu, redhat ferdora, geentoo, Damn Small Linux ... but we don't know to choose the best OS which we could development kernel (rebuild kernel), write the application(support gcc > 3.3), Run on the new kernel > 2.6.18.x.
Thank you for your help :-o
