i just got like 5, 500mhz's computers with HD and everything ready to go.
Is there some way i can have them all working together on like one OS? Like could i link there power to make a super OS over all 5?

Amoeba is one. But its developpment seems to have stalled. It was designed by the famous Andrew S. Tanenbaum.
I'm sure there are many other OS that can do that. IBM uses Linux on its clustered supercomputers...
I always thought Beowulf was the daddy of this stuff. I've never used it, of course.
You could take part in a distributed computing project. You might help to find a cure for a disease or discover alien life. Read this Wiki if you are interested.
What are you planing on using. if its just for desktop use then theres no point since the majority of desktop apps are only programed to work on one cpu. But if you plan on doing some number crunching may i recomend oscar clustering software
yeah i plan on doing some number crunching. I have a couple computers right now doing work on scientific research for SETI@home (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/) when im not using them. But i want to have these 5 computers just dedicated to that all the time.
so yes it would be number crunching, and the "oscar clustering software" would be software i would load ontop of whatever OS (linux or windows) that i decide to go with? or ...
works on linux only, windows tends to be more dificult to cluster with less support than linux in cluster usage.Quote:
