Program for system specs?

I was just wondering if there was a program that I could use with linux to find out my hardware specs. I need to know how much/what kind of RAM I have and I don't want to get inside the machine and find out. Thanks..

To find out the ram on your system, just do

I am not sure if these commands show the type of ram though. Other useful commands for finding hardware on your system are "lspci" and "lsusb".

Well those told me how much I have, but not the type. I'm building a new computer and I nee to know if I can use this RAM or not, but I really don't want to take this one apart because it's a major pain. Any help on this is extremely appreciated.

Perhaps Hardinfo is what you're looking for?

I don't think so. It also tells me how much memory, but not the frequency..

Try going to Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com . That should help.
