shell display problem
how come in *all* the linux distros, when you run a program like updatedb, you can still type characters and directional keys displays strange characters on the screen, this also happens in the login screen, even when typing the password, and during boot time
-
Just because the key presses are interpreted and printed to screen if there is nothing else there which is captring them for a specific use.
It's not like it's a problem. It doesn't break anything and if you don't like seeing it stop pressing keys when doing those thigns.
-
another bug is that when you run something like [man rxvt] and press [Ctrl-\], the display messes up, it looks like this
Code:
line. Option descriptions may be prefixed with which compile option
each is dependent upon. e.g. `Compile XIM:■ requires XIM on the
Options line. Note: `rxvt -help■ gives a list of all command-line

anything you type wont be visible now, but the programs will still execute, you now have to exit the current shell or type [reset]
